a busy mom
and her bullet journal
I apologize for being so quiet lately. I am dealing with some personal stuff at home that require my devoted attention. I am going minimalist for February because I honestly do not have the time to dedicate myself to my bullet journal as much as I would like to, considering my current situation. I will post more as soon as I get a chance. Thank you! And happy journaling everybody!

Once again, my BuJo® is mostly in Spanish since that is my first language. However, don't dispair since I provide translations where and when needed. For most part, I do not think this is going to be a problem. But I wanted to throw it out there, just in case.
I'm so happy with the way my 2017 BuJo is turning out. I cannot wait to share it with you. It is taking me weeks to get it ready, but that was the idea. I've been taking my time to think things through and to really enjoy preparing it. I'm starting the year with a sky-blue Leuchtturm1917. Even though I do not like the way it ghosts, I am sticking to this notebook. I love its size, its built; it's just perfect for me. I wish it would last me all year, but I know that's not going to happen with everything I'm hoping I'll be able to plan, do, and accomplish in 2017. The year that is about to end has been a very hard one for me and my family. Therefore, I have no other option but be hopeful for what the future might hold. I know that things will not improve overnight, but they can't get any worse. Therefore, I'm shooting for the end of the rainbow and I hope that 2017 is the best year to come, yet. For me, my loved ones, and those of you out there. I'll see you next year! Happy Holidays!
December is here already and, as a project manager, I usually have to work in the future, sometimes more than in the present. Therefore, I already had to start my 2017 journal.
For some time, I kept on using my Piccadilly notebook (my original bullet journal) to draft new layouts and ideas. After a while, it proved to be fine when it was a very high-level idea. Unfortunately, when I had to move things to my Leuchtturm1917, I was facing many difficulties.
I ended up buying another notebook just to try out different ideas. But this may not be the most cost-effective solution. Therefore, I came up with this other idea: Virtual draft-board. And this is what you will need if you want to try this idea:
With today's technology, you may have access to a touch-screen. That's not my case. So I improvise using an app on my phone. I'm going to confess that this is going to be a totally show-off type of post. You're going to have to forgive me, but I'm happy. Why? Because when I was in Secondary School, I wanted to be a graphics designer. I was constantly drawing and sketching. My mother has a natural talent for it. My father also had a nag for it and he actually studied something related to that. I'm not sure what exactly because my parents separated right after I was born, I never really met my father, and my mother won't talk much about him. But one thing I know for sure is that he could design sailboats, he loved drawing, and he was really good at it. It even landed a job at a major automaker. I can't always come up with things from scratch. Like my mom, I'm much better at copying and adapting than creating something on my own. Either way, the more I bullet journal, the more of my old self that comes back, which is something I need right now since I am going through some hard and difficult times in my personal life.
Anyway, I asked which markers people were using to create headers like the one in the image above. Since I worked in Information Technology as a technical writer and web designer for many years, and with not a very good budget that would I allow me to get fancy tools like Photoshop, I had to learn to make-do with whichever tool my employers would authorize me to use. In other words, I was always reduced to use whichever Microsoft application my assigned computer would have. Since there is so much you can do with an application like Paintbrush, you have to become creative in other ways besides artful.
Hi, again! I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend and, if you have children who started school today, that it was not a very crazy one for you, trying to get everything ready.
Today I just wanted to share how I carry my supplies and journals with me. At first, I had a dedicated section in my laptop backpack for everything. However, that's my work backpack and I would forget to take things out. That's when I thought about getting a case or something, just to carry everything with me. At first, I considered using a tablet case. But then I realized that I was not going to have enough room to carry the two journals, as well as my supplies. |
