a busy mom
and her bullet journal
Once in a while you may need to stop and think if you're not overdoing it. I've realized I've been spending too much time every Sunday or Monday in trying to set my weekly spreads out. I started to use the bullet journal because I needed to get better organized and save time. Now that I've been using the bullet journal for about seven months, I think I've overdone it. I started very minimalist and then I realized the potential of this incredible system. I started adding collections and trying different spreads and ideas. Eventually, it started to get more and more complicated. Or maybe complicated isn't the right word here. I think every thing that I've done so far has or had a purpose. I think I got carried away. That's a much better choice of words.

I'm going to confess that this is going to be a totally show-off type of post. You're going to have to forgive me, but I'm happy. Why? Because when I was in Secondary School, I wanted to be a graphics designer. I was constantly drawing and sketching. My mother has a natural talent for it. My father also had a nag for it and he actually studied something related to that. I'm not sure what exactly because my parents separated right after I was born, I never really met my father, and my mother won't talk much about him. But one thing I know for sure is that he could design sailboats, he loved drawing, and he was really good at it. It even landed a job at a major automaker. I can't always come up with things from scratch. Like my mom, I'm much better at copying and adapting than creating something on my own. Either way, the more I bullet journal, the more of my old self that comes back, which is something I need right now since I am going through some hard and difficult times in my personal life.
Anyway, I asked which markers people were using to create headers like the one in the image above. Since I worked in Information Technology as a technical writer and web designer for many years, and with not a very good budget that would I allow me to get fancy tools like Photoshop, I had to learn to make-do with whichever tool my employers would authorize me to use. In other words, I was always reduced to use whichever Microsoft application my assigned computer would have. Since there is so much you can do with an application like Paintbrush, you have to become creative in other ways besides artful.
Hi, again! I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend and, if you have children who started school today, that it was not a very crazy one for you, trying to get everything ready.
Today I just wanted to share how I carry my supplies and journals with me. At first, I had a dedicated section in my laptop backpack for everything. However, that's my work backpack and I would forget to take things out. That's when I thought about getting a case or something, just to carry everything with me. At first, I considered using a tablet case. But then I realized that I was not going to have enough room to carry the two journals, as well as my supplies. |
