a busy mom
and her bullet journal
I posted on November 1 about the changes I was making for this month due to the fact that I was running out of spreads and I didn't want to start a new notebook for just a couple of spreads. I wanted to share how things were going considering that half of November is already gone. Things That Are Working So Far
My Fitbit, Activities, and Sleep logs are working so far. I have been able to successfully go back to the previous month's extra-activities log and record any extra activities in there with no problems. My new simplified Daily Tracker has been working very well so far, as well. I I haven't made any changes to my daughter's weekly tracker. I change and sometimes simplified the general look of it, but not the layout, which stays the same (daily food logs and sleep tracker on the left page and daily notes on the right page.) The image below is from one of my post entries from September 2016, but it is still valid since that's what I'm still using. Things That Are Not Working
Things that Are Working, but Might Need TweakingMy dailies are definitely something that will need tweaking if I were to keep using this simplified version. I was using weekly logs and I was not using daily logs until November when I decided to forego my weekly logs and start using daily logs due to the limited spreads left in my journal for the remainder of the year. The image below shows what I'm currently using. I live in Michigan, where the weather changes every 15 minutes (it's a local joke, but somewhat true.) I like planning my days according to the next 24-hours forecast. I can't do anything beyond that due to the nature of the weather here. You just have to play it by ear since you think it's going to be sunny and then, bam! we get slam with snow that came out of nowhere (actually, it usually comes from Canada or across Lake Michigan.) Anyway, I love my little weather forecast banners and headers. Before I go on, let's give credit to whom deserves it. I borrowed the day banner from Christina77star.co.uk. I love her blog and has lots of ideas and inspiration. You may want to check her out. Here's a link to some banners she was very kind to share on her Instagram account. What is working is the list of tasks, as well as the list of things I need to buy. What is not working at all is that once in a while, I need to take a note or I want to write down the URL for a blog, web site, or article I find interesting or that I want to visit again. I have no room for that in this current spread. In other words, if I want to implement this in 2017 as my regular daily log, I'm going to have to make some adjustments so I can include other tidbits of information. But what it is working is that I have a list of things to do that I don't have to migrate when the weekly spread changes, for example. And considering that I work full-time, I can't necessarily plan when to do what. I just need to know what needs to be done and then I can complete that task as the little free time I have permits. As a result, I may continue to use this spread idea. I just need to leave more room for the days or come up with other logs, trackers, or collections for the other things I need to remember or want to keep. For now, I've been using the space right below the monthly calendar and some Post-It notes, which is something I would like to avoid using at all cost since that's how I started to use a Bullet Journal: I was carrying sticky notes everywhere and, of course, I would end up misplacing them or losing them and, as consequence, things would not get done. Well, this is all for today. I hope you enjoyed this entry and that you are enjoying your own journaling. If you're celebrating Thanksgiving next week, I wish you a safe and happy holiday and I hope to talk to all of you soon! My Supplies
