a busy mom
and her bullet journal
I have a calendar view for the entire month to write down my appointments and other important events. To the right, a space to keep track of my bills and expenses for the month, as well as upcoming ones for December that I may need or want to pay during November. I jot down the tasks and goals I will like to accomplish during the current month right below the bills tracker. For this month, I wanted to have an autumn little doodle; hence the pumpkins and mail. Right underneath the calendar, I have a small calendar for December. I always liked being able to see the upcoming month in any calendar, including Outlook or the ones you can hung from a wall. At the bottom of the page, my habit tracker for the month (water intake, fruits and vegetables, and others.) I'm reserving the space between the calendar and the habit tracker for notes, such as things I need to take care of, in this case, during December or any other important notes or things I do not want to forget. The next spread is for my gratitude log. And here's where the first change in what respects previous months comes in. Usually, my gratitude log takes me a full spread and a half. I tend to write more than three things for each day. For this month, if I want to be able to fit all of November and December in the few spreads I've got left, I need to keep my gratitude log to just one full spread. This means that I won't be able to write more than two lines per day. Or maybe write shorter sentences, fewer words, or both. But that's okay. I can always go back to my full gratitude log once the new year comes around.
After my gratitude log comes my Fitbit log. This log usually takes me two full spreads. The first page is dedicated to my daily Fitbit goals (250 steps/hour from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 10,000 steps/day, 5 miles/day, Etc.) The second page is for activities. I've been trying to get back on the habit of walking 30+ minutes/day. I'm still recovering from a back and hip injuries, so I can't really do all the activities I used to, such as mountain biking, climbing, kayaking, hiking, backpacking, 4-5 times a week at the gym, and many more. Baby steps. So for now, walks and playing with my daughter are my main workouts. If you also use a Fitbit, you may be asking yourself why I don't just stick to the online dashboard. Well, I tried and it didn't help me visualize my months as easily. I started to track my Fitbit logs in my bullet journal around May. Then I also started to track my sleep patterns from my Fitbit, as well. Since I started to record these on my bullet journal, I have been able to pin-point where I was failing. I discovered some patterns and I started to adjust my daily routine based on my findings from month to month (see that I'm threading the pages so I can refer back to previous months, as needed.)
Now comes the one tracker or log that I do not like using at all. It's tedious. It's my sleep tracker, also from Fitbit. I do not enjoy using this one... at... all. However, I realized that it's very much needed. It's something I need to do. It's like one of those things in life that you do not enjoy doing at all, but the benefits are worth the time and effort, like working out. I track the time when I went to bed (I've noticed that Fitbit was not necessarily tracking this, but when I had finally fallen asleep,) at what time I fell asleep (based on Fitbit,) how many times I was awake and for how many minutes, same for restless periods, for how long I've been in bed, at what time I got up or waken up, how long I've been actually sleeping, and finally, how long from my goal I am. My goal is 7 hours/night. My next log is going to be my daily habits (water intake, fruits and vegetables, milk, and oils.) I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to do this. As soon as I have came to a verdict, I'll update this entry. I better hurry since November is already here! My daughter's log will follow that one. I've decided to forego my weeklies, but not hers. By the way, I have improved hers a little from that original post, but it has pretty much stayed the same, but for the header on the second page. I'm not including a Notes header anymore, which has given me some extra lines. I have also started to use stickers, when I feel like adding more colour to her pages. I rather draw, but I don't have the time these days. I hope you enjoyed my sharing and that you got some ideas for your own bullet journal. Happy journaling! My Supplies
